I have some very exciting news to share with you all. After blogging for a few months now, trying my hardest to write some great posts and grow my site, the hard work is beginning to pay off. I’ve been nominated fort the Liebster Award! The Liebster award is given to bloggers, by bloggers- a great way to spread some love and recognise each other for some utterly brilliant work. Liebster is actually German and translates to words such as beloved, dearest and sweetheart, what a lovely sentiment. To find out more about the award read The Global Aussies blog post which has everything you need to know.

How I Got Nominated?
I was actually nominated for this award by the lovely Allison from the amazing Seeking Neverland. She’s a talented blogger with a beautiful site packed full of very helpful travel tips and tricks. It’s an honour to be nominated for an award by such a talented blogger.
On excepting my nomination for the award comes a promise to pay it forward to other bloggers and also a few questions that I will answer below.
Questions From Allison
I am a total beach bum, but I’d have to say in answer to this I am a city traveller as I always seem to end up in cities. I’m a total culture vulture as to be honest there’s really nothing better than pursuing museums, learning about history and culture and soaking up as much knowledge as conceivably possible. I’m a big lover of music so when travelling around cities I love unearthing new artists, venues and genres to delight in.
The first place I actively travelled to was Paris. I had always dreamed of visiting the city of lights and finally decided to make it happen to celebrate my 21st Birthday. Me and my friend had a fantastic weekend running around the city trying to see EVERYTHING we could fit in. Looking back I had a lot to learn. I was so naive to the pitfalls you could make whilst travelling. The biggest thing I took away from my trip was how important researching the area your accommodation is in before booking. I say this because when booking our trip I was solely focused on finding the cheapest hotel possible. Little did I know I would end up in a Parisian slum, greeted by men outside the Metro cooking corn on metal bins shoved in trollies. That was definitely a wake up call.
This one may seem pretty random but it’s the Amazon Rainforest. I’ve had an obsession with the Amazon since seeing explorers go there whilst watching a TV show as a kid. The idea of sleeping in a hammock in the depths of the jungle, surrounded by mysterious creatures under a giant canopy of greenery is my idea of heaven.
I’ve played it pretty safe so far and haven’t done anything overly dangerous, but I do have some exciting adventures in the pipelines…
I think either Scandinavia or Vienna. I have always loved Scandinavia and I would happily settle down for the long hall in any one of the amazing countries that make up this part of the world (I always go on about how much I love Sweden and Stockholm). Vienna is a place that fascinates me and Is somewhere I would love to live at some point.
My biggest challenge is finding as much time to work on my blog as possible. I work a lot, trying to save up money to travel so I can carry on exploring and writing great stories. It’s also challenging being a new blogger and hoping people actually stumble upon your blog. trying to build a following is hard work but hopefully it’ll all pay off.
How do I manage my time? Frantically! I am always busy. I work as much as I can to save money and travel as often as feasibly possible. In my free time I’m always thinking of ideas for my blog and posts to write. I write notes on my phone, in notebooks, on scraps of paper and on my hand if desperate. I try and make a little plan of action covering all the areas I need to work on, but sticking to that plan sometimes is easier said than done.
This is a hard one. I do love to travel alone. Nothing quite beats the freedom that comes with being in a foreign place and being able to see and do whatever you want, whenever you want and knowing the adventure of a lifetime is at your fingertips. On the other hand, travelling with the right person/ people is one of the most amazing experiences. I recently travelled to Stockholm with my best friend and had the best time possible, filled with laughs and fantastic memories. Travelling with a companion is a great way to build lasting moments with the people you care about.
I am so excited about my next adventure. I will be heading to the USA for the entire summer! I can’t wait to experience as much of America I can fit in and try not to put on 3 stone by gorging on deep fried doughnut burgers and attempting Man vs Food challenges.
My bed. Sometimes you just have enough of overcrowded hostels, bumpy tent floors and squashed spare rooms.
Ok so I know it’s by J. R. R. Tolkien and Is from Lord Of The Rings but this one really resinates with me. When I talk about my dreams, a lot of which involve travel, people are very quick to get sceptical and judgemental. Some people will think you’re just trying to run away from adult life and responsibility while others weigh you down with tales of how you’re potentially ruining any chance of having a successful career/ partner/ family ect. Enter quote. I may want to spend my years roaming around the planet, seeing and doing as much as possible but I’m not lost. I know who I am and what I want and this quote reminds me to stick to my convictions and don’t let others dictate how my life should be on my behalf.
My Favourite Blog?
For me it has to be Boarders of Adventure. Becki is a woman after my own heart. The focus of her blog is journeys with a social conscious, encouraging you to change your perception of a place by going there. She is an award winning writer and what i love about her blog is that travel narrative is combined with social, historical, political and cultural reporting. Check it out, seriously!
